Nevada led the nation once again in monthly foreclosure activity in April. Nevada currently has a foreclosure filing rate of 1 in every 146 households. The national average is 1 in every 519 at this time. Foreclosure filings were reported on 7,276 Nevada properties.

Community activists in New York called on state lawmakers to help families in foreclosure. The State Senate has been urged to pass a moratorium bill that would put a halt on the foreclosure process. Home owners would also be able to negotiate with their lenders at this time.

Real estate foreclosures in Missouri are expected to increase by almost 1,300 over last year. St. Louis County officials said people should ask for help as soon as they think they're are in trouble. Homeowners should ask various churches and civic organizations for help as soon as possible. Most of the expected foreclosure problems can be attributed to adjustable rate mortgages that will change this year.
