Lenders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin are meeting with people to try and save their homes before its too late. Foreclosures are a growing problem in Milwaukee. This year alone over 1,600 people had their homes foreclosed on. Hundreds of homeowners in foreclosure danger met with mortgage counselors and bankers hoping to convince them to lower their interest rates.
Many states in the U.S. are suffering because of the foreclosure crisis but there are three states that have been hit the hardest and they are; California, Nevada and Arizona. Nevada is fairing the worst with one in 11 homes facing foreclosure from now through 2009. Arizona and California share about the same strife; one in 18 homes will be foreclosed in Arizona and one in 20 will also suffer the same fate in California.
State and federal officials in Colorado recommended foreclosure counseling to homeowners hit hard by the mortgage foreclosures crisis following a study that showed some areas were targeted for risky subprime loans. 11,633 property were in the first stages of foreclosure in six different zip codes. This week has been proclaimed as foreclosure prevention awareness week, notices will be mailed to neighborhoods in those six zip codes informing homeowners of free counseling.
