417 New Foreclosures Filed in Massachusetts in Week Ending February 27, 2009

Jeremy Shapiro 417 new foreclosures were filed in Massachusetts over this past week, ending Friday, February 27, 2009, 16 more new foreclosed properties than last week with 401 new foreclosure filings.

Broken down by county, Barnstable County had 15 foreclosures, Berkshire County had 5 foreclosures, Bristol County had 39 foreclosures, Dukes County had 1 foreclosures, Essex County had 59 foreclosures, Franklin County had 4 foreclosures, Hampden County had 37 foreclosures, Hampshire County had 6 foreclosures, Middlesex County had 64 foreclosures, Nantucket County had 1 foreclosures, Norfolk County had 29 foreclosures, Plymouth County had 55 foreclosures, Suffolk County had 43 foreclosures, and Worcester County had 59 foreclosures.

The biggest movers from last week to this week were Hampshire County (100% increase, 3 -> 6), Berkshire County (67% increase, 3 -> 5), and Plymouth County (31% increase, 42 -> 55).
As the volume of foreclosures fluctuates from week to week, we much prefer to look at the number of new foreclosures over the past 60 days.

Over the past 60 days, the following number of foreclosures were started, by county:
Barnstable County, MA: 170 new foreclosures
Berkshire County, MA: 43 new foreclosures
Bristol County, MA: 338 new foreclosures
Dukes County, MA: 15 new foreclosures
Essex County, MA: 539 new foreclosures
Franklin County, MA: 32 new foreclosures
Hampden County, MA: 306 new foreclosures
Hampshire County, MA: 36 new foreclosures
Middlesex County, MA: 578 new foreclosures
Nantucket County, MA: 7 new foreclosures
Norfolk County, MA: 291 new foreclosures
Plymouth County, MA: 442 new foreclosures
Suffolk County, MA: 436 new foreclosures
Worcester County, MA: 604 new foreclosures
