When I was working in Corporate America, I totally took health insurance for granted. It was just a tiny amount that came out of my check every month and a card in my wallet I had to show when I went to the doctors.Once I gave up the JOB and started to work for myself I paid a little more attention. My family and I are very healthy and only really see a doctor for annual checkups so when faced with paying for Health Insurance out of my own pocket I began to think...
"Is Health Insurance worth the cost?"
"What if I took what I'd be paying for insurance every month and put it in a high yield savings account and should the something happen I'd have the funds to cover it..."
Yeah right! I actually tried that for a few months and let me tell you, it wasn't fun!
Every time my kids said they had a stomach ache, I thought Appendix and fretted about what I'd do if they had to be hospitalized!
Believe me the amount you pay every month is worth the peace of mind to know that you are covered should anything happen.
And now in Massachusetts it isn't even a choice any more.
Every resident of Massachusetts is required to have health Insurance.
I heard recently that a woman was audited by the IRS and when they found that she did not have health insurance, she was fined $8000...ouch!
This is why I contacted HSA last year to see if they would consider ForeclosuresMass as a group so that we could get group discounts and benefits for our members.
As a member of ForeclosuresMass you are eligible to purchase health, dental, disability and long term health insurance through HSA and receive the discounted price of a member rather that paying full price as an individual.
