Sheila and I knew the challenges that investors and real estate
professionals faced when buying and selling Massachusetts foreclosed
properties. It all began with our keen interest in the real estate
investment market. To satisfy our hunger for knowledge, we joined several
investment groups, obtained our real estate licenses and attended
investment boot camps. It seemed like a natural fit when we were pointed
in the direction of foreclosed properties as a great investment. We spent
many hours talking to real estate professionals and investors learning
about the foreclosure market and discovering the problems they
encountered.
The first thing we learned early on was that gathering foreclosure
information wasn't easy. It meant extensive travel to state and town
offices for information that wasn't always readily available and easy to
access. It also meant endless research and time-consuming data entry.
Oftentimes it was expensive. Our investigation of national foreclosure
sites proved useless. Very few Massachusetts foreclosed properties were
listed and when they were listed, the data was usually obsolete.
